At a time when the wish to live close to nature and to be able to withdraw was growing stronger, an unusual project came up: the design of a caravan. For an approach accustomed to the bulk of large architectural projects, that change of scale was a test in itself.
As the work went on it became clear that the first law of small spaces is function. Vehicle dimensions, weight limits and structural requirements bore directly on every spatial decision; holding a consistent language inside and outside the vehicle meant fusing the aesthetic with what was simply necessary.
The project became an experiment showing that the spirit of an architectural language can survive however small the scale.
